The Brussels energy regulator BRUGEL wants the grid operator to publish capacity maps from now on. These maps must show where there is still room on the electricity grid for new installations. An important step towards transparency, and good news for installers who want to plan ahead.
What is changing in concrete terms?
According to BRUGEL, the grid operator must publish maps every three months providing insight into the available capacity for production, storage, and charging points. The processing of connection requests must also be smoother: every applicant should receive clarity within three months.
The goal is clear: to avoid grid congestion and better inform installers about where there is still effectively room to connect new installations.
